Welcome to Day 1 of my weight loss journey – the first step I’m taking to be a healthier version of myself. Over the past couple of months, I’ve been preparing for this journey. I chowed down all of my favourites over the holiday season (which is clearly visible on the scale this morning!).
Today is the first day of the rest of my life – or whatever that powerful, super motivating statement is. The reality is that I’m nowhere near the best version of myself.
If you know me personally, you know that 2020 was a bad year. Not the worst year ever, but the year hit me smack in the face with a broken ankle that literally shattered the majority of the bone. So, not only did I have surgery with plates, screws and torn ligaments, but I also had to learn how to walk again.
That process takes time and it took me months to remotely feel emotionally fine again.
That on top of COVID-19, shutdowns, having the kids home, etc ended up becoming the perfect recipe for neglecting myself and everything that I had going for me in January 2020.
But here we are – Day 1 of this journey on January 4, 2021.
Here’s what the scale said this morning:
Yikes! I knew I had surpassed 200 pounds, but 212 pounds is close – very close – to the weight I was prior to going into fertility treatments. 215 pounds is my biggest weight ever.
Throughout Day 1 of this whole process, I stuck to the plan. I didn’t cheat once. But I still have feelings of not being proud, not feeling confident, and not feeling pretty.
Good thing I can continue to hide inside with my kids and not go outside until I feel a bit more confident with myself and my body.
